Donner Ski Cabin Information

The Ski Cabin is the Hann family's Lake Tahoe retreat. For five months of winter and spring, a group of families lease the cabin.  Group “members", for a fee, get access to house and apartments based on a relaxed "timeshare" system.  Since 2006/7, our first year, we have shared the lease between a group of families, now numbering 16.

Here is a link to the ski Cabin Information and Policies for 2019 going forward. This information is also contained in the FAQ Link above.

Here is, we hope, all you need to know to make your time here fun. We rely on this informal system to make the experience comfortable and predictable for all. Thanks for reading.

What We Have
The house has two floors. Downstairs is the main unit, which consists of  four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and kitchen. Upstairs (street level) are two adjoining one-bedroom apartments (units three and four), each with a small living room.  All three living spaces have couches that can become beds.

Depending on how cozy your group can manage to be, unit three upstairs has accommodated up to six people each (perhaps two couples and two kids, for example). Unit four has one king and one queen bed, (one a foldout) And downstairs has total beds for 11, including a "bunkroom" with four beds. Plus couch space.

Also, we have a hot tub, TV and Sonos players in each apartment, and wireless computer access.

Here are links to the schematics of the upstairs apartment and the downstairs apartment.

What To Do When you Leave  download
1.  Leave clean linen folded on beds. Leave used bedding in the room on the floor.
2.  Turn all heaters to their lowest setting.  Turn off lights.  Close drapes/blinds.
3.  Wash dishes & discard or take home perishable food.
4.  Leave wood in the bin by the main house fireplace and in the rack.
5.  Make sure the hot tub is covered and latched.
6.  In order to prevent frozen hoses in case of fire, please disconnect any outside hose you have connected as soon as you have finished using the hose.  Hoses in winter areas should be left drained of water and disconnected from the faucet.  (Note:  this is extremely important)
7.  Lock the door.  Turn off outside lights.
